The types of release films are rich and diverse. The following are the common classifications and uses:

Classified by base material

PET release film: It features excellent physical and mechanical properties, good high-temperature resistance, small thickness tolerance, high transparency, and low thermal shrinkage rate. It is mainly used for back adhesive protection, double-sided tape, back adhesive protection of advertising printing materials, back adhesive protection of reflective materials, waterproof rolls, etc., and is also an indispensable component of OCA optical adhesive.

PE release films: including LDPE (high-pressure polyethylene) release films and HDPE (low-pressure polyethylene) release films. LDPE release film is used for mechanical product packaging, hot melt adhesive packaging, hygiene care products (such as diapers), anti-corrosion rolls, etc. HDPE release film is used for sealing waterproof rolls such as adhesive tape.

OPP release film: Commonly used in sealing tapes, silent tapes, etc.

Composite release film: Composed of two or more materials, it integrates the properties of multiple materials and can be customized according to different needs. It is used in some occasions with more complex performance requirements.

Classified by release force

Light release film: The release force is relatively light, generally around 1-10g /inch. It is suitable for occasions with high requirements for release force, where easy peeling is needed without leaving adhesive residue, such as optical die-cutting and initial adhesive force testing of tapes.

Medium release release film: The release force is moderate, usually between 10 and 50g/inch. It is widely used in the production of ordinary double-sided tape, labels and other products.

Heavy release film: It has a relatively heavy release force, generally greater than 50g/inch. It is often used for products that require strong adhesion for fixation and are not easily peeled off during use, such as foam tape and high-strength tape.

Classified by surface treatment

Single-sided release film: Only one side of the film undergoes release treatment, while the other side can be bonded with other materials. It is used in various situations that require single-sided isolation, such as sealing tapes and back adhesive protection for single-sided adhesives.

Double-sided release film: Both sides of the film have undergone release treatment. It is mainly used for foam tape, double-sided tape for sun protection and isolation, waterproof rolls for sun protection and cooling, as well as some products that require isolation protection on both sides.

Silicon-free release film: It does not use silicon-based release agents and is suitable for certain fields that cannot contain silicon, such as the electronic materials industry that rejects silicon products and some optical materials that are sensitive to silicon.

Fluoroplastic release film: Fluoride is coated on the surface of the film, featuring high-temperature resistance and low surface energy. It is suitable for silicone-based adhesives, die-cutting and punching, high-temperature tapes, etc., and is also applied in fields such as gold finger composite die-cutting processes.

Frosted release film, matte release film: The surface is specially treated to have a frosted or matte effect, which can provide a better visual effect and hand feel. It is often used in some products with special appearance requirements, such as decorative materials, optical films, etc.

Classify by color

It can be divided into release films of various colors such as red, yellow, green and blue. Release films of different colors not only meet customers' personalized demands for appearance, but also play a role in distinguishing different products or processes in some specific applications. For instance, on the production line of an electronics factory, release films of different colors can be used to distinguish products of different specifications or batches.
